Joanne Lunkuse

Joanne completed the Premier Skills programme in 2021.

She is now coaching a team of 50 girls at Uganda Youth Development Link Soccer Stars Girls’ team. She is also working as the programme coordinator at Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum, where she is responsible for advocacy and partnerships.

I now organise youth camps for young people to participate in football tournaments. We mentor them and speak about sexual and reproductive health and rights. I am more confident to make decisions as a leader and speak to young people about mental health, gender-based violence, and their rights as children. We have seen behaviour change in communities. Football has been a great tool to support young people in the areas surrounding Kampala who were at risk of engaging in drug abuse or girls getting into prostitution.
