The South African education system curriculum changes have resulted in Physical Education (PE) being removed as a stand-alone subject and incorporated into the Life Orientation & Life Skills curriculum. This has led to a drop in PE participation at schools due to lack of trained PE practitioners and understanding of Physical Education.
Enhancing Physical Education (PE) participation in Schools
It’s on this basis that the British Council and Premier League’s Premier Skills programme in South Africa, in partnership with Forwardzone, will be hosting a South African webinar on enhancing Physical Education participation in schools.
Objectives:
- To address best PE Practice to ensure PE is functional in schools
- To address challenges & barriers within PE delivery in schools
- To raise awareness of South African opportunities available for coaches/participants keen on PE delivery in schools
- To learn strategies on increasing PE participation in schools from curriculum expects & key stakeholders
